Let’s go back…..Christmas in 1999

Christmas 1999 the last Christmas before the millennium  and in the K-pop world SMTown’s  first Christmas album Christmas In SMTown.com. Featuring the hottest artists of time and the original pioneering groups of K-pop.

I like how music video gives the feeling of the SMTown  artists as an family.

Even though these next songs are from  albums  released in 2000 and 2001 it still has the 90s vibe their predecessor contains.

One of my favorite Christmas songs. I even include this song in my Christmas mix for Christmas parties lol.

Another great music video with the SMTown “family”. Angel Eyes is not your typical sounding Christmas song but is upbeat and joyous (and it also sounds like songs from the  Sonic R video game lol).

Do you have any favorite K-pop Christmas songs?

Merry Christmas!

Watch this! Diggin’ in the Carts Documentary

I love all types of genres in music but here is one genre I particularly love and apparently many others do as well. you hear this type of music in the instrumentals of pop songs, R&B, EDM,  and even hip hop. Sometimes artists music videos take on the influence of this genre. so what genre is this? VGM better known as Video Game Music I can go deeper into this genre but that’s another post onto itself.  I remember hearing about this documentary interviewing the composers of the most iconic video games such as Sonic, Street Fighter and Streets of Rage and the list goes on. So I found it on youtube and its quite interesting to see the actual people who put his music together and what their inspirations were. So if you’re a fan of video games or VGM check it out!

I have this section because it highlights the music from two iconic games Sonic the hedgehog (which I love) and Streets of Rage, I am a huge fan of Yuzo Koshiro (the composer of Streets of Rage 1 and 2 and co composer of 3)

shinee married2

With their latest release of their repackaged album Married to the Music SHINee takes on a retro theme. I have always been a been fan of retro fashion, music and movies be it the 50s thru the 80s and even the 90s (now that its considered retro ) so I excitedly awaited this release. Check out my review of the new songs on the album and the unusual (for k-pop anyway) music video here

What do you think of the single or the music video? Better yet what you think of the new tracks?
