Update/ Watch this!

Hello readers,

Sorry for the long stretch without content. I have been unwell for a while now and it has been in the way of updating this blog with new posts. That being said be on the lookout for a lot of delayed posts and music reviews, including a very special video game soundtrack review/opinion piece of a game that just celebrated it’s 20th anniversary!

In the meanwhile Music Core released a compilation video of all of SHINee’s live performances on music from 2008-2018! I watched it while it aired live on youtube and it was a lot of fun.

and of course part 2!

and while on the subject of SHINee check out ONEW’s debut song Blue!

beautiful both visually and vocally.

That’s it for this update be on the lookout for much more this December!

Walking your Talk: K-pop Charity projects/events you should about.

Walking your Talk: Putting words and feelings into action.

I just wanted to make a post highlighting a few projects that have materialized in the months after SHINee member Jonghyun’s passing. These projects seek not to just memorialize the artist but to make a difference as well by donating proceeds to charities that deal with issues Jonghyun cared about. These projects however are not merely fundraisers but also a way to have the community actively participate and create as well as fellowship with each other all while raising funds for a great cause.

Its a beautiful thing.

Its never easy to start a project, make it happen and for it to be successful. These projects below have taken on that challenge and with fans help will be successful!

 Project Blue Moon- Art project

The first project I want to highlight is  Project Blue Moon a art project in memory of Jonghyun with its profits to be donated to charity. I even have participated in Project Blue Moon click here to see my artwork. The art that is submitted from artists (like you!)  is made into prints, postcards and stickers. They will continue to accept submissions for art until  February  of next year.

Watch this! Exo-Tempo MV

I’d must admit I was a bit skeptical of this comeback the theme…. supposedly  being motorcycles and with the title “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo” I was like ummm…. (Love Me Right anyone?) The anxiousness faded a little as I saw the individual teasers (everyone looked great!) however once I heard the music in the short film and again in the MV teaser I was so on edge to hear this single, it reminded me of  old 90’s R&B beats from back in the day!

I must admit I was pleasantly surprised when I watched Tempo in the morning it almost blew me away! This is the type of  song EXO was made to sing and dance to. The lives I’ve seen have been awesome too.

I do not get hyped for songs or groups that often but this single just impresses me. Stay tuned for a review of the album!

Watch This! Lay -Give Me A Chance

Just in time for his 27th birthday EXO member Lay released a track entitled Give Me a Chance from his upcoming U.S. debut album NAMANANA due to be released October 19th.

Its a surprisingly   chill electro tinge midtempo song (in English!) that showcases Lay’s clear high notes in the chorus. (I wont give a full review until the album is released. lol)

What do you think of the song and mv?

Top Ten underrated SHINee songs

Top Ten underrated SHINee songs.

When a album has a star track that’s a blazing hit sometimes other not so popular songs get left in the dark. These songs are just a good or sometimes even better than the title song but are allotted no such luck. Given a chance some of these songs could’ve been hits themselves and sometimes the songs are ahead of there time or “too creative” or “unsual”.

This list is our top ten underrated and unrecognized SHINee songs.

The Rampage -The Anthem boys from Exile Tribe

Welcome to the first post of my from the lost files… post I wrote but got lost or forgotten  in the drafts. This post may also be updated or changed.

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while now. Here’s a very late introduction to the newest (as of this moment) addition to the Exile Tribe , The Rampage. Long story short The Rampage is a mixed group consisting of three singers and 13 dancers.

I have been a fan of many of the groups in the Exile Tribe family namely Exile the second and J soul brothers or Exile the third.  Each of these groups include at least two vocalists and the rest are dancers. As of now The rampage are the newest addition to Exile tribe preceded by Exile Tribe’s Generations.

I will show ONE video for Exile the second and J Soul Brothers lol

Always loved this song…

Most epic MV ever, needs a post all to itself.
I am a fan of songs that do not focus or draw from the same overused theme…”Love”. I love anthem songs, theme songs. Growing up I was a huge fan of cartoon theme songs (that were good) like Prince Valiant , Pokemon and Tank Police, Jem and Sonic to name a few…(man I sound old lol).

So you get the idea of an anthem? Very few artists have made successful mainstream anthems such as Queen, Destiny’s Child, DMX, BoysIImen to name a few. The Rampage takes the whole anthem theme to another level, not only is there powerful energetic vocals with boastful and proud lyrics they added epic dancing to the mix.

The Rampage- Lighting

The Rampage-Frontiers

The Rampage – Dirty Disco

The Rampage- 100 Degrees

The Rampage- Dream Yell (could only find live version)

This song would make a great opening for a tv, anime or cartoon.

Not a anthem song or anime opening song but love the dancing.

The Rampage – Knocking Knocking

and now their newest single! (Now no longer there newest)

Watch this… SHINee Our page live performances

One aspect I love about  live Korean music shows like music bank and M countdown is how they create a unique atmosphere using set, lighting and outfits  for a song. Its so interesting to see the different interpretations and themes the creators(set designers and stylists come up with for the same song.

I was surprised when it was announced that SHINee would be singing “Our Page” at music shows. Being such a personal meaningful song it could easily be mishandled with the set, the audience etc.  I had my worries alleviated as all of their lives (I’ve seen so far) carried the same aura of the video and the song.  Below are a few that really touched me.

Music Bank (watch on youtube)

I was wondered how shows would go about the intro without diminishing the intimate and personal feel of the song. Music Bank did a simple classy short intro reminiscent of the teaser. Very nice (could do without the canned cheering though).

Music core

With it’s blue stars and slivery bordered frames draped in a luminous cloth this stage unlike the others is invocative of night not winter which is a fitting theme. Plus Onew smiles when he looks upwards in this rendition.

 M Countdown

The globe lights and paper snowflakes give this stage a almost soft comforting winter feel.

While all of the lives were beautiful… I was awestruck when I saw just the thumbnail of it. The set was full of light and it changed constantly during the course of the song climaxing near the end,  with not just snow falling but the platform rising and the sparkling hanging lights descending from above..it moves me every time I view it.

If I’m not mistaken these will be SHINee’s last lives for their comeback and I feel it is a meaningful and heartfelt way to end promotions. What do you think? Did a particular stage move you?
